Note: the screens you see in this article might not match your BookingBuilder exactly, but don't worry about that- the differences are just cosmetic and the directions will still work.
Supplier Site Logins / Settings
BookingBuilder can store and use different login options and settings for each supplier. That lets BookingBuilder take care of signing in to the site, and entering any additional information such as promo codes or preferences. They can be stored locally for each user, or on the BookingBuilder administration site.
Locally stored information is only available to that particular user, and only exists on that system. Saving them on the administration site means they are available to all the users in that BookingBuilder Group, and will download to any system added to the Group.
Locally Stored Logins and Settings
To view or edit locally stored logins:
-
- Use an availability command in your GDS that will bring up a result for the supplier- in this example we've used Swabiz.
- Alternately, double click the BB icon near your clock to open the screen, and enter a date and city pair.
- Use an availability command in your GDS that will bring up a result for the supplier- in this example we've used Swabiz.
Once on that screen, find the appropriate result in the bottom section.
There are a couple types of logins you may run into, depending on the supplier. We'll cover the specifics of each below.
Multiple IDs
Some suppliers issue multiple logins or IDs to a single agency, generally so they can use different ones as appropriate to different clients, etc. Swabiz is a very commonly encountered example, as is Orbitz. You can tell whether a supplier is one of these by looking for the pencil icon on the right side of the line.
That pencil is what to click to take a look at them.
- Click the plus button to add a new ID.
- Fill in the Display name with whatever you like- that field is to help you keep track of which ID It is.
- Login Name is where the supplier issued ID itself goes.
- Password is often optional- only enter that if you have been given a password by the supplier.
- Optionally you can fill in the button to the left of one of the IDs, and fill in the Save Login Selection check box. That will take effect on your next availability request, and it means it will use that ID unless you tell it otherwise using the drop down menu on the availability screen.
- Click OK when done, or the plus button again to add a new one.
- The minus button on the right removes locally added IDs. Any that downloaded cannot be removed here (they would only download again) but must be managed on the BookingBuilder administration site.
Single IDs and Other Settings
For suppliers that issue a single ID, the settings can be found under the gear icon.
The options that appear under the gear depend on the supplier, and are generally self explanatory. This example for Air Canada has a number:
Site Stored Logins and Settings
- First, sign into the BookingBuilder Administration site. Not everybody can do that- you must have a login and password set up:
- Click on the appropriate Group on the right.
- Click Edit Supplier Settings.
- You can use the top row to filter the list, and using the Enable check box and the Save button at the bottom turns suppliers on and off for the Group. For our purposes, pick a supplier that supports multiple IDs (like Swabiz) and click Edit.
- The top part of the next page is informational. The next section down is analogous to the 'gear' icon above.
A key difference is the 'Local' check boxes to the right of some of the settings. Normally, a setting entered here on the server side that disagrees with a local setting 'wins'. For example, if we fill in Select Anytime here, any users in the Group will get that setting, despite what they may have filled in on their BookingBuilder.
Filling in the Local checkbox will allow the setting on the user's system to have priority, and it will ignore whatever is filled in here if it has a different setting locally. - Once you have made any changes, click Save Changes.
- The bottom section of the page is analogous to the pencil icon. The top row acts as a filter, and the Edit button allows you to change existing entries.
- If we fill in a new Company Name and click Add ID...
- The new name will appear on the list, along with editable ID Number and Password fields. Once you fill those in, click the Update button on the right of the line.
