Admin Site Overview
The BookingBuilder Administration Website is used for a number of diverse functions, from account management to billing to controlling the behavior of BookingBuilder Desktop, Genie, and Boost.
Some of these things can be complicated, and we're glad to help if you ask; this is for the do-it-yourselfers out there, but we definitely don't expect everyone to do wade through this, so feel free to drop us a line at support@bookingbuilder.com .
Signing In
You can generally use any popular modern web browser to visit the Admin site. If you see something that doesn't work, please let BookingBuilder Support know, and try whatever isn't working in a different one.
A login and password are required. Those can be created by BookingBuilder Support or by existing administrators.
To get in, you can go to bookingbuilder.com, and then click the Login link on the upper right.
You can also go directly to https://admin.bookingbuilder.com/ .
Once you are there, enter your user ID and password, and click Login.
Account Level
When you first sign into the site, you will be on the Account level. That is where you can see things like invoices, reports, etc. The links for those functions are on the left hand side, and they each have a short article of their own.
You can also see all the Groups on the right hand side. There might only be one, or there may be several. The Group names are each links that take you to a page that lets you manage the Group settings.
Group settings control critical things like
- Which features are active
- How the software behaves
- How information is read from, and written to, the GDS
- Genie Prompts
There is some information about the Groups on the right we should look at. - As said, the Group name is a link to the Group page (see below).
- GroupID is a unique identification number for the Group. We usually call it 'Group Number'.
- The Prompts column displays in an Active/Total format. A 14/15 means there are 14 active Genie prompts on that Group, out of 15 total Prompts.
- The BBD checkbox being filled means that Group has access to BookingBuilder Desktop features, allowing them to book travel and transfer the needed information between the GDS and supplier website, among other things.
- The Genie checkbox means the Group can use Genie Prompts (sometimes called popups). Prompts can do things based on events or text in the GDS, navigation to web pages, etc. Prompts can appear to inform or remind agents, interactively collect data for entry in the GDS or elsewhere, or even create emails with automatically generated content.
- BookingBuilder can perform most updates automatically- it is rare that a newer version must be installed manually. Upgrades To shows the version that BookingBuilder will end up on (even if an earlier version was installed). Agencies can opt out of automatic updates by contacting support.
- The Rename link lets you change the name of the Group if you need to.
- Next to that is the number of computers active in the Group. This may not be the whole story, though. BookingBuilder can use Windows usernames instead (usually for Terminal Servers or Citrix users), and that number does not show up here. Enter the Group itself and click Edit Usernames Assigned to this Group if you are looking for usernames.
Group Level
After you click on the Group name, you will see options down the left that control the behavior of BookingBuilder Desktop, as well as some for Genie. You can download the latest version of BookingBuilder using the Installation Link, and it will automatically put the new computer into that Group. The Registration Code is an alternate way to do that, if the installer being used is not from this link. When BB starts the first time in that case, it will ask for the code.
The bottom of the screen is all about Boost and Genie. Those are both covered in their own areas.
